　　A paragraph is a group of sentences which explain ONE idea. It is separated from the other paragraphs in the assignment by a space. It contains:

　　A topic sentence

　　Supporting sentence

　　A concluding sentence

　　一个段落的构成就像一个 “三明治”：

　　对于topic sentence,

　　它是 the first sentence in the paragraph.

　　它主要包含两个方面的内容：The topic of the paragraph 和 The main idea of the paragraph。

　　例如：Time management is a very important skill for students and can be broken down into several steps such as planning, prioritising and scheduling of tasks.

　　之后我们需要多个supporting sentence去支撑我们的topic sentence，

　　如下图：

　　然后，对于段落，我们又可分为观点性段落和描述性段落，对于观点性段落(Opinion paragraphs)，supporting sentence 主要是提供 facts and evidence 去证实作者的opinion，

　　如下图：

　　然而，对于描述性段落(Description paragraphs)，它的supporting sentence 主要是提供更多 details/description to explain/give examples of the topic sentence.

　　示例如下图：

　　总之，每个段落都必须要有topic sentence.

　　The topic sentence starts the paragraph and it gives the main idea of the paragraph. It tells the reader what the paragraph will be about.

　　此外，写作者必须包含一些 supporting sentences which include evidence (statistics, specific examples, findings from academic texts, quotes and paraphrases, established facts) to add value to your writing and develop the argument effectively.

　　在段落的最后，还要有concluding sentence which makes the final point for your paragraph and holds all information together.
